Shilpa Shetty’s husband, who was jailed on July 19 in a porn case, was set free on September 21 after being granted bail a day earlier. Ryan Thorpe, the IT head of his company, also walked out of Arthur Road jail the same day alongwith Kundra.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate S.B. Bhajipale said, going by the witnesses, the element of inducement, which was a prime ingredient of cheating, appeared to be missing from the prosecution’s case. The court also said that since all servers, laptops and mobile phones of the accused were in custody of the police, there was no possibility of tampering with evidence. It added that the trial was likely to take its own time and in such circumstances, it would not be proper to keep the accused in custody. Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe have been asked not to leave the country.
