Randeep Hooda rushed to Punjab from Bombay to perform the last rites of Sarabjit’s sister, Dalbir Kaur, who died of a heart attack on 26th June. Randeep played the title role in Sarbjit (2016), which narrated Dalbir’s fight for the release of her brother, Sarabjit, from the Pakistan jail where he had been lodged since 1991. He was accused of being involved in a string of bomb blasts in the country. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the role of Dalbir in the film.
Sarabjit had died on May 2, 2013, following a brutal attack by a jail inmate.
