Well-known Marathi film actor Ravindra Mahajani was found dead in his rented accommodation near Talegaon Dabhade, Pune on 14th July. He was 74. He had been staying alone there for the last eight months. Doctors suspect, he ,may have died three days earlier.
The Pimpri Chinchwad senior police inspector said that the neighbours called the police after a foul smell emanated from the flat. The police sent the body for post mortem.
Ravindra had acted in Marathi films like Mumbaicha Fauzdar, Zhunj, Aram Haram Aahe, Lakshmi, Devata and Kalat Nakalat. In fact, when he entered the Marathi film industry with Zhunj, he was probably the only handsome hero of the Marathi film industry. V. Shantaram noticed him in a stage play and launched him in Zhunj which was directed by Kiran Shantaram. The film was a hit and a star was born. He had also acted in some Hindi films like Panipat, as well as a few Gujarati films.
Ravindra is survived by a daughter and actor-son Gashmeer Mahajani with whom he shared screen space several times.
