The Bombay high court on August 8 directed the state and the passport authorities to renew actor Shiney Ahuja’s passport for ten years. It observed that Shiney was unlikely to pose a flight risk and that he had not violated his bail conditions during pendency of his appeal against rape conviction. The court told the state and the passport authorities not to reject his passport renewal application on the ground that his appeal was still pending if he was otherwise eligible for its renewal.
