Released last week in Bombay, Orissa and C.P.C.I., Shivashish Films And Entertainment’s Safar Mein Sheher (UA) is about the beauty and chaos of Bombay. It is a day in the life of seven different people in the city of Bombay.
The story in quite scattered and offers no novelty. Pramod Singh and Mazhar Kamran’s screenplay is predictable. Therefore, the drama simply fails to involve the viewers. Rather, it bores them so terribly that they just switch off. Dialogues are dull.
Apurva Kadam is weak as Rekha. Akanksha Yadav delivers a poor performance as Jaya. Antara Asthana is unimpressive as Bulbul. Barkha Bahar acts routinely as Aradhana. Naresh Shroff does an ordinary job as Vikas. Pancham Lohat is dull as Sugandhi. Rajesh Balwani is okay as Jayant. Shraddha Kaul is average as Meethi. Tigmanshu Dhulia lends fair support as a film director. Vimal Verma makes an ordinary mark as Hassan Kaka.
Mazhar Q. Kamran’s cinematography is far better than his direction because while the visual appeal is good, the narration simply fails to hold the viewers’ attention. Ananda Bathena’s music is far from nice. Saeed Quadri’s lyrics are appealing. Aseem Sinha’s editing is reasonably sharp.
On the whole, Safar Mein Sheher is a poor show all the way.
