The Karnataka state government has decided to name a satellite after Kannada film star Puneeth Rajkumar. The satellite will be launched into orbit between November 15 and December 31.
Minister for electronics, information technology – biotechnology, science and technology, higher education, skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood C.N. Ashwath Narayan said on August 26 that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on the occasion of India’s 75 years of independence decided to launch 75 satellites prepared by students, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme. “A KGS3 satellite has been developed by students studying at a government school in Bangalore, costing Rs. 1.50 crore. We have named the satellite Puneeth in memory of the late actor who passed away last October,” Narayan said.
