SECTION 144 IN KOTA DUE TO ‘THE KASHMIR FILES’ | 23 March, 2022

Following a law and order situation arising post the screening of The Kashmir Files and in view of the forthcoming religious festivals, the Kota district administration has imposed section 144 of the CrPC from yesterday (March 22) to April 21 in Kota. An order dated March 21 by the office of the District Magistrate cites a letter from Kota SP, which says that in the coming days, festivals like Cheti Chand, Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, Baisakhi and Jumu’atul Wida are all sensitive from a communal point. “Additionally, in view of The Kashmir Files playing at cinema halls and to maintain law and order in the district, there is a need to suspend gathering of crowds, protests, assemblies and processions,” reads the DM office order.
