SHIA BOARD SENDS NOTICE TO ‘SUITABLE BOY’ MAKERS | 9 November, 2021

The All India Shia Personal Law Board on 7th November sent a legal notice to Netflix and the makers of web series A Suitable Boy for intentionally hurting the religious sentiments of Shias by showing desecration of a tazia (replica of Imam Husain’s mausoleum) in one of the episodes. The Board demanded that the producers delete the scene from the web series and issue a public apology.

The AISPLB explained that a scene in the fourth episode of the series showed deliberate desecration of a tazia, which had hurt the sentiments of not only the Shia community but also of all those Hindus, Husaini Brahmins and Sunnis who observed Muharram and held tazia in high regard.
