Veteran singer Anup Ghoshal passed away today (15th December) at 1.40 p.m. in Calcutta due to multiple organ failure. He was 77 and had been hospitalised since several days for age-related ailments. He is survived by two daughters.
Alrhough Anup sang many Bengali songs, he also lent his voice to the hit Tujhse naaraaz nahin zindagi song in Hindi film Masoom (1983). He had sung several songs in Satyajit Ray’s films. He also lent his voice to songs in Tapan Sinha’s films.
Anup Ghoshal had contested the Assembly elections in 2011 from the Uttarpara seat in Calcutta on a Trinamool Congress ticket and had won them.
