‘SMAYRA’ REVIEW | 16 December, 2022

Released last week in East Punjab (at Faridabad), Pink Rose Films, Surya Arts Entertainment and Blue Star Entertainment’s Smayra (UA) is a horror love story.

Neither does Harish Sharma’s story have any substance nor does his screenplay offer any novelty. The thrills and chills one associates with horror dramas are missing. Harish Sharma’s dialogues are poor.

Performances are no better than the insipid script. Harish Sharma and Ajita Jha are not fit to be lead actors. Javed Saifi, Nisha Gupta, Preeti Dayal, Kemy, Dimpy Valecha, Shivani Singh, Prakash Sen, Sanjeev Kushwah and the others lend weak support.

Harish Sharma’s direction is immature. Music (D.J. Bharali and Amjad Bagadwa) is dull and so are the lyrics (Niranjan Budhadhara, Harish Sharma, Rapo Beatkiller and Soniya Rajput). Even D.J. Bharali’s background music is dull. Camerawork (by Surya Arts) is average but some of the locations, on which the film has been shot, are eye-filling. Luv Kushwah’s editing leaves plenty to be desired.

On the whole, Smayra is a weak show.

It collected Rs. 72,215 in 1st week in Faridabad.
