Paramount Animation’s Smurfs (animation; dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name) is the story of how the Smurfs invade the real world to save Papa Smurf who is mysteriously taken by evil wizards Gargamel and Razamel.
Pam Brady’s story and screenplay are not very interesting. The drama fails to hold the audience’s attention for long because it offers very little novelty.
Voice acting is average. There is no actor who stands out.
Chris Miller’s direction is not of the kind which can keep the audience captivated throughout. Henry Jackman’s background music is fair. Visual effects and animation are of a fine standard. Matt Landon’s editing leaves something to be desired. Dubbing is proper.
On the whole, Smurfs is too ordinary to make an impact at the box-office.
Released on 18-7-’25 at Gemini (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Paramount Pictures. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
