The Chembur (Bombay) police have started recording statements of witnesses as part of their probe into the case of assault, negligence and wrongful restraint against Swapnil Phaterpekar and others for allegedly manhandling Sonu Nigam, his friend and bodyguard on the evening of 20th February after the singer’s performance. The police have already collected CCTV footage of the event.
After the show, Swapnil, whose family had organised the event, insisted on taking a selfie with Sonu. He allegedly got into a scuffle with the singer and his team. Sonu was pushed and fell on the steps. His friend, Rabbani Khan, was thrown off the stage.
