Telugu film actress Jamuna passed away at her residence in Hyderabad on 27th January. She was 86 and had not been in good health since quite a long time. She is survived by a son and a daughter. Her last rites were performed last evening.
Besides acting in Telugu films, veteran Jamuna had also done roles in Tamil, Kannada and Hindi films. She was also a producer. She made her acting debut when she was just 16 years old in Puttillu, directed by Gariakpati Rajarao. Her Missamma (1955), directed by L.V. Prasad, is one of Telugu cinema’s iconic films. Some of Jamuna’s films include Tenali Ramakrishna, Muddu Bidda, Gundamma Katha, Ramudu Bheemudu and Poola Rangadu.
She was a Member of Parliament in the 9th Lok Sabha and represented Rajahmundry.
