Actor Allu Arjun was questioned at Hyderabad’s Chikkadpally police station for more than three hours on December 24 in connection with the December 4 stampede at Sandhya cinema during the premiere of his Telugu film, Pushpa: The Rule Part 2, in which a 39-year-old mother of two died. The actor is out on bail in the case.
Allu faced 20 questions based on the findings of the probe so far, the remand report and other evidence gathered over the past almost three weeks.
The actor was asked if he knew that the police had denied the cinema permission to have him at the premiere and whether he acknowledged that a life was lost because of a stampede triggered by a crowd jostling for a glimpse of him at the time of his arrival.
Allu reached the police station a little after 11 a.m. He was accompanied by his producer-father, Allu Arvind, father-in-law and senior Congress functionary Chandrashekar Reddy, and his advocates.
Apart from Allu Arjun, 17 more persons have been named in the case, including the film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, and owners of Sandhya cinema.
