Veteran Telugu film actor Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away this morning (23rd December) at his residence in Hyderabad. He was 87 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Satyanarayana was also a producer and director. He was a former Member of Parliament in the 11th Lok Sabha.
His career spanned over six decades. Some of the films he was seen in were Nirdoshi, Sahasra Siraccheda Apoorva Chintamani and Sri Ranga Neethulu. In all, he had acted in more than 750 films, most of which were Telugu. His first film was Sipayi Koothuru. After this film, he played duplicate of NTR in some films because of the striking resemblance he bore to the popular star. He shifted to negative roles after Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima which was the first film in which he was cast as a villain. He also played an important role in Subhash Ghai’s Karma.
Satyanarayana started his own production house under the name and style of Rama Films. He made films such as Kodama Simham (1990), Bangaru Kutumbam (1994) and Muddula Mogudu (1997).
