Chauhan Productions’ The Secret Of Devkaali (UA) is the story of a man chosen by the Goddess to end the tyranny of Hemant Acharya (Mahesh Manjrekar) who has divided Devkaali village by manipulating the Pariyaar community. The man chosen by the Goddess is Madhav (Niraj Chauhan). Although Madhav kills Hemant Acharya, is he able to pacify the violent clan born out of Hemant’s machinations? Or will the clan continue its quest for revenge to seek the destruction of the Pariyaar community?
Neha Mahendra Soni has written a story which doesn’t quite hold the audience’s attention. Her screenplay is not engaging enough for the viewers to feel invested in the drama. The proceedings, therefore, fail to involve the audience. Dialogues are routine.
Niraj Chauhan is so-so as Madhav. Anoushka Chauhan is okay as Nitya. Mahesh Manjrekar is just about fair in the role of Hemant Acharya. Sanjay Mishra has his moments as Tyagiji. Zarina Wahab is natural as Devki Tyagi. Prashant Narayanan is realistic in the role of Manga Prabhakaran. Bhumika Gurung is adequate as Mudra. Manan Bhardwaj does an average job as Madhav’s friend, Khyati. Amit Lekhwani passes muster as Vama. Others hardly add much.
Niraj Chauhan’s direction is routine. Music (supervision by Niraj Chauhan) is functional, much like Neha Mahendra Soni’s lyrics. Himanshu Patel’s choreography hardly deserves mention. Ali Aslam Shah’s background music is ordinary. Mukesh Tiwari’s cinematography is passable. Raj Shinde and Javed Khan have done a dull job of the action and stunt scenes. Imran Khan’s art direction is so-so. Lokesh Mallik and Sahil Ansari’s editing should’ve been crisper.
On the whole, The Secret Of Devkaali is a flop fare.
