The government has decided to close down Films Division of India, the National Film Archive of India and the Directorate of Film Festivals. In fact, all the three entities shut down from 1st January, 2023.
The Films Division was created in 1948. The NFAI came into being in 1964. The Directorate of Film Festivals was set up in 1973.
