‘TOMCHI’ REVIEW | 30 May, 2025

Star Buzz and Tulsi Production’s Tomchi (UA) is about a group of six naughty kids whose chaotic lives take a heartwarming turn when a dog, Tomchi, enters their world. Their love for and bond with Tomchi actually bring about a big change in their lives. But there comes a time when they lose Tomchi. Devastated, they move heaven and earth to bring the canine back.

Prem K. Sharma and Rajesh Gupta have written a story which is kiddish. It has some heartwarming moments but they lack novelty. Aashish Sinha, Ravindra Katyayan and Rajesh Gupta’s screenplay moves on the predictable path. Nothing in the drama comes as a surprise or shock to the viewers. Resultantly, they find it difficult to feel engaged in the proceedings. The trio’s dialogues are routine.

The six kids are okay. None of the six children stands out. Manoj Joshi is so-so. Rati Agnihotri is average. Yashpal Sharma is natural. Kurush Deboo barely passes muster. Vrajesh Hirjee is alright. Upasna Singh does a routine job. Delnaaz Irani is okay. Mahesh Thakur is ordinary. Amita Nangia delivers an average performance. Milind Gujaji lends routine support. Madhoo Shah is fair. Shital Shah, Ajita Kulkarni and Sanjay Swaraj provide dull support.

Rajesh Gupta’s direction is okay. Anand Raaj Anand and Ritesh Bhoyar’s music is so-so. Lyrics (Ritesh Bhoyar, Narender Bedi, Manoj and Akhilesh Kumar) are quite nice. Jayesh Pradhan’s choreography is adequate. Puneet Dixit’s background music is nothing to dance about. Jai Nandan Kumar’s camerawork is ordinary. Mukesh Kumar does a routine job of the art direction. Lav Singh and Shankar Samant’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Tomchi is too ordinary to make a mark at the box-office.
