TWO HORSES INJURED DURING SHOOTING: ANIMAL RIGHTS BODY INITIATES INQUIRY | 14 July, 2023

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has written to the police and other authorities in Maharashtra, seeking a thorough inquiry and action against those responsible for injury to two horses (picture for representational purposes only) during the shooting of a TV serial recently at Film City in Bombay. A leg of one of the horses has reportedly been fractured.

A whistle-blower provided videos and pictures of the mishap which occurred on the sets of a TV serial based on the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and produced by SoBo Films. According to PETA activist Meet Ashar, “One of the videos shows a carriage being pulled by the two horses at high speed and crashing into a barricade. Both horses tumble and fall on the ground. Three equine vets have confirmed that one of the horses has suffered a leg fracture.”

PETA India has also sent a formal complaint to the Animal Welfare Board India (AWBI) regarding the incident.
