Many Ukrainians, including celebrities, have taken up arms and ammunition to defend their motherland. One such soldier is filmmaker Oleg Sentsov who spent five years in a Russian jail for protesting against the seizure of Crimea. He is currently on the frontlines fighting for Ukraine in the country’s war with Russia.
Dressed in a khaki uniform, Sentsov said, “This fighting is not how you imagine it from the movies. Most of the time, your task is to hold the frontline in the trenches, and not to die from the shelling.” Calling himself a simple soldier, Oleg said, “During wartime, it does not matter if you are a filmmaker or a bus driver — we are all soldiers.”
