VETERAN BENGALI FILM ACTRESS SWATILEKHA SENGUPTA PASSES AWAY | 16 June, 2021

Veteran Bengali film actress Swatilekha Sengupta breathed her last today (16th June) in Calcutta due to a kidney ailment. She was 71. She had been hospitalised around 21 days back. Her condition deteriorated today and she passed away in the afternoon. She was known for her role in Satyajit Ray’s Ghare Baire (1985) with Victor Banerjee and Soumitra Chatterjee.

She started as a theatre artiste. She used to also write stage-plays. She married theatre director Rudraprasad Sengupta. Among her other films are Bela Sheshe, Barof, Bela Shuru and Dharmajuddha. The last two named films are yet to see release some time later this year.
