With the release of War having been announced for 2nd October, the producers of Marjaavaan are looking at another release date. Nikhil Advani and T-Series had announced months back that they would release their Ritesh Deshmukh and Sidharth Malhotra starrer on Gandhi Jayanti. But when Yash Raj Films released the teaser of its War, it became crystal clear that the studio would release its ambitious action film on the holiday which is eyed by producers as collections are big due to offices, banks, schools and colleges being shut for Gandhi Jayanti. The makers of Marjaavaan, therefore, decided to shift their film’s release to another date as it wouldn’t make commercial sense to pit Marjaavaan against War. After all, War stars Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff and has been made on a far more lavish scale.
Nikhil Advani, producer of Marjaavaan, said, “I spoke to Aditya Chowksey. He said, they would be giving War a very wide release. The screen count in India for their film could go up to 4,500. So there wouldn’t be enough screens for a second new film on that day. Besides, they would be booking the film for a minimum of two weeks (actually, almost two-and-a-half weeks as the film will hit the screens on Wednesday since October 2 falls on Wednesday).” Although the makers of Marjaavaan have mentally decided to avoid the Gandhi Jayanti holiday, they haven’t frozen on a new release date as yet.
