Till the lockdown happened, films released first in cinemas and then on an OTT platform. That changed when, during the lockdown, many producers premiered their ready films on OTT. But most of those films never saw the dark of the cinema halls. A few of them, like Khaali Peeli, were released in the cinemas once they reopened post-lockdown. But, generally speaking, the OTT-premiered films never made it to the cinemas.
Rarely, if ever, has one heard of a film made for the OTT platform, or a web series making it to the cinema screens after streaming on the platform.
But Tikkhi Mitthi Life, a popular web series, will be released on the big screen tomorrow (12th February). Made for the OTT platform, the series will now adorn the cinema screens. It is produced by Jhinal Belani and Bhaumik Sampat, and directed by Vaibhav Kerlekar. It is being released by Time Cinema in Ahmedabad, Surat, Idar and Anand. It stars Bhaumik Sampat, Jhinal Belani and Muni Jha.
