YUSUF LAKDAWALA’S SON BOOKED IN CHEATING CASE | 23 May, 2024

The Bombay city economic offences wing (EOW) on May 22 booked Feroz, son of late exhibitor, film financier, post-production studio owner and builder Yusuf Lakdwala, in a cheating case of Rs. 45 crore. Feroz’s wife is also accused along with her husband of usurping several of his family’s properties.

Yusuf Lakdawala, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a case, died in 2021 in prison. His second wife, Sabina, had lodged a complaint against Feroz and his wife, Noorie. While Yusuf was in jail, Firoz allegedly took over several his properties. Feroz also bought more shares in his name without giving his father (Yusuf Lakdawala) an opportunity to exercise his shareholder rights. According to the police, Feroz allegedly reduced the shares of his father and complainant Sabina, causing a loss of more than Rs. 45 crore.

After conducting a preliminary enquiry, the police registered an FIR and booked Feroz and Noorie for cheating, criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.
