‘WIDOW’S SHADOW’ REVIEW | 18 April, 2025

Subir Dutta Productions, Line Producer India And Fixers and Rat Race Frames’ Widow’s Shadow (A) is the story of lesbian relationship of a widow and her friend.

Aankhi meets Kajal in a widow shelter home. Their bonding develops into love. However, the going for them is not at all easy because they have to confront societal evils and prejudices. Does their love win over all the obstacles that come in their way?

Sankalitaa Roy has written a bold story but it doesn’t engage or involve the viewers. Her screenplay moves at an easy pace and hence the drama does become boring at places. Sankalitaa Roy’s dialogues are average.

Sankalitaa Roy does an ordinary job. Palak Kayath is so-so. Pallavi Bhatt performs in a routine manner. Nandita Purohit doesn’t quite impress. Avani Nagar, Prithviraj Desai and Pankaj Nagar provide average support. Others barely pass muster.

Suman Adhikary’s direction is below the mark. His music and lyrics are functional. Aneesh Chakraborty and Suman Adhikary’s background music is dull. Suvayu Chakraborty’s camerawork is okay. Production designing (by Pradhyuman Singh and Mahipal Pawar) and art direction (Hemant Paliwal and Deepak Prajapati) are average. Joyjeet Sarkar’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Widow’s Shadow is a flop show.

Released on 18-4-’25 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru 1st Film Studios. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was disastrous everywhere.
