Release Rigmarole

Is this tit for tat? After Ekta Kapoor changed the release date of her Mental Hai Kya to 26th July, Hrithik Roshan was quick to announce that he would not be getting his Super 30 on the same day. Although the release of Super 30 had been finalised for July 26 much before Ekta Kapoor decided to bring Mental Hai Kya on that date, Hrithik made it clear that he wouldn’t want another media circus around the release of his film alongside that of Kangana Ranaut’s Mental Hai Kya. Hrithik was, obviously, referring to the media coverage of his bitter battle with Kangana on personal matters many months ago. After a few weeks, Hrithik surprised the trade by announcing the new release date of his Super 30. Instead of postponing the release, he had advanced it. He said, he would get the film to the cinemas on 12th July. The point to be noted is that on July 12 was slated for release Ekta Kapoor’s Jabariya Jodi. It was anybody’s guess that Ekta wouldn’t let her film, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, clash with Super 30 on 12th July. So, the expected has happened. Ekta has now postponed Jabariya Jodi to 2nd August.
