Actor Aamir Bashir says, he is proud of his mother and aunts for “standing up to the might” of the Jammu & Kashmir police, who took a group of women in custody during a peaceful protest in Srinagar on 15th October. Bashir added that his mom and aunts were all in their 70s and 80s. They were sent to jail for protesting against the nullification of Article 370.
According to Aamir’s tweet, there are hundreds of children, some as young as nine, who are picked up in midnight raids in J & K and taken to unknown destinations. They are thrashed and tortured while their families run from pillar to post to find their whereabouts. Bashir added that the women took a stand and chose to speak out against this oppression.
