Nearly a week after two bullets were fired at two separate flats of a housing society at Andheri in Bombay, the Oshiwara police arrested small-time actor Kamaal R. Khan on January 24. The police recovered a Germany-made pistol and 21 rounds from his bungalow at Versova. The fired bullets were found inside the flats of writer Neeraj Mishra and model Prateek Baid in Nalanda housing society in Lokhandwala Complex on January 18. Impact marks of the bullets were found on a plywood cabinet and walls inside the two houses. Nobody was injured. The motive is still being probed.
The police said, Kamaal was checking the pistol under the impression that one round was left in it. He was taken into custody after confirming that the bullets came from his 7.65 mm Mauser. Kamaal R. Khan has a prior crime record.
The actor was produced before a magistrate court at Bandra in Bombay and remanded to police custody till January 27.
