The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on November 19 arrested gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, upon his deportation from the US. He arrived in New Delhi on a special flight, and was produced in court and taken on a remand of 11 days.
The agency arrested him in relation to a case registered in 2022 to investigate an alleged nexus between criminal gangs in India and Babbar Khalsa International, a designated terrorist organisation, to raise funds, recruit youth and carry out terror strikes in India.
Anmol was named in the firing incident at actor Salman Khan’s house in Bombay in April 2024. He was also accused of providing arms and logistical support to the shooters of Punjabi singer-actor Sidhu Moose Wala in Jawaharke village in Mansa district of Punjab on May 29, 2022.
