ANURAG KASHYAP QUITS TWITTER AMIDST THREATS TO FAMILY | 14 August, 2019

Anurag Kashyap quit Twitter on 10th August after his parents got threatening calls and his daughter got online threats because of his anti-Modi stand on social media. The filmmaker has been vociferous in criticising the government and Narendra Modi through his various tweets. He has often been trolled also. Of course, he has his fair share of supporters too, who admire his bold tweets.

On 10th, Anurag tweeted that he was quitting the social media platform as his parents and daughter were being targeted for his political ideology. “There isn’t going to be reason or rationale,” he tweeted, adding, “Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India and hope you all thrive.” Another tweet of Anurag on the night of 10th August went: “This would be my last tweet as I leave Twitter. When I won’t be allowed to speak my mind without fear, I would rather not speak at all.”
