Maharashtra minister for home (urban) Yogesh Ramdas Kadam said that the Bombay police have initiated a suo moto inquiry into the threat issued to actor Aamir Khan in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, accusing him of promoting love jihad. Kadam added that they would contact Aamir, who recently married Gauri Spratt, after he returned to India.
It may be mentioned here that the police have not received any complaint from the actor. Meanwhile, police vigilance around the actor’s residence has been increased.
In a Facebook post, the threat had mentioned that promotion of love jihad using one’s stardom would not be tolerated as it was against the Sanatan dharma and the country.
