COURT REJECTS SAIF’S PLEA IN BRAWL CASE | 1 August, 2019

A sessions court in Bombay on 30th July rejected Saif Ali Khan’s plea against a magistrate court’s order of 2007, framing the additional charge of voluntarily causing hurt to a witness in a brawl case. Judge P.R. Sitre rejected the plea which Saif submitted in June 2018. The defence will move the Bombay high court against the order.

Saif and his friends were having dinner in a five-star hotel on 22nd February, 2012, when a brawl broke out between them and the complainants. South African resident Iqbal Sharma protested against the loud chatter of Saif Ali Khan’s group. Reacting to this, Saif is alleged to have threatened Iqbal’s father-in-law, Ramanbhai Patel. The actor is also alleged to have punched Iqbal on his nose, fracturing it in the process.

The magistrate’s court framed charges of assault in 2014 against Saif and two others — Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi — accused of hitting Iqbal Sharma.
