A Delhi-based businessman, Rohit Vig, has filed a criminal defamation case against Esha Gupta for maligning his image by accusing him of sexual misconduct and tweeting about it and posting the accusation on Instagram. In his plea, Rohit alleged that Gupta accused him of raping her with his eyes on the intervening night of July 5 and 6, 2019. The plea argued that Esha’s allegation, published on July 6, was false, absurd, bizarre, preposterous and extremely defamatory in nature. He added that ever since the actress had posted the allegation on Twitter and Instagram, he had been going through a lot of mental agony as friends and colleagues had been contacting him and his family members. He said, this amounted to character assassination.
