POLICE CUSTODY FOR AJAZ KHAN | 21 July, 2019

A court in Bombay on 20th July extended actor Ajaz Khan’s police custody to 14 days. He was arrested on 18th July by the city’s cyber crime police for allegedly creating and uploading ‘objectionable’ videos. The content was found to be such that it could promote enmity between different groups on grounds of religion etc. and create hatred among the public at large. The police had received a complaint against him along with few videos which had gone viral on social media. A case had been registered against the actor under section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc.) and section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, along with section 67 of the Information Technology Act (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form).
