Saying that courts were not a “super censor board”, the Delhi high court on October 30 refused to intervene in two PILs seeking a stay on the release of The Taj Story. The film opened today (October 31) in cinemas. A bench of Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said that the Cinematograph Act did not have any provision for review by courts. The two petitions were then subsequently dismissed as withdrawn.
The PILs alleged that the Paresh Rawal starrer was based on fabricated material with a particular agenda for gaining political influence and to create communal disturbance.
