Prashant Parkar, husband of actress Pradnya Thakur (Parkar), who strangulated her daughter and then committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at their Kalwa home on 9th August, was arrested from his residence the following day for abetment to suicide. The suicide note left by Pradnya, mentioned that the husband had failed in his responsibility to take care of his family and that she had no hope from him. It also referred to an extra-marital affair he was having, after which he had turned his back on the wife and their 18-year-old daughter. She had blamed him for driving her to suicide.
Prashant Parkar has a Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) case against him for alleged irregularities in his import-export business. He was arrested last year and was out on bail. It is reported that the couple had numerous fights everyday. Prashant was taken to the magistrate’s court which sent him to police custody till August 13 for allegedly abetting the suicide of his wife.
