The Supreme Court on June 25 permitted actress Jacqueline Fernandez to withdraw her plea challenging a Delhi court order to frame charges against her in the Rs. 200 crore money-laundering case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar. She had filed a special leave petition.
A bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi said, “Counsel for the petitioner (Fernandez) has sought permission to withdraw this special leave petition with liberty to avail appropriate remedy in accordance with law.” The apex court permitted the withdrawal of the petition, granting the liberty sought by the petitioner.
A Delhi court on May 30 had ordered framing of charges against the actress, alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar and 15 others in the case. The actress had moved the SC against the order.
