Veteran actress Madhumati breathed her last today (15th October) in Bombay. She was 87 years old. She will be cremated at the Oshiwara crematorium in Bombay at 5 p.m. today.
The actress and dancer, who made an immense contribution to the world of cinema, was often compared to legendary performers of her time such as Helen. Among the films Madhumati appeared in are Ankhen, Tower House, Shikari, Mujhe Jeene Do and Raaton Ka Raja.
Madhumati began her career as a dancer in 1957 in an unreleased Marathi film. Passionate about dance from an early age, she was trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Kathakali.
