The North American box-office is staring at one of its worst times in the last two decades, thanks to the coronavirus outbreak. The weekend that went by saw ticket sales at the lowest ever in the last 20 years. With the public staying at home and many cinemas closed, footfalls at the multiplexes and cinemas were terribly low. Overall, the box-office sank to $53.5 million in the weekend, a figure smaller than even the weekend after the 9/11 attacks of 2001. Disney’s Onward and other running films recorded dull collections.
