PARIKRAMA LEAD GUITARIST SONAM FOUND DEAD IN DARJEELING HOTEL | 21 February, 2020

Sonam Sherpa, the lead guitarist of Delhi-based rock band Parikrama, was found dead in his hotel room at Kurseong, Darjeeling, on 14th February. The 48-year-old probably suffered a massive cardiac arrest. He was declared dead on arrival at Kurseong Hospital around 2 p.m.

Born in Kalimpong, Sonam was the pillar of Parikrama and was acknowledged as one of India’s finest rock and blues guitarists. He was in Kurseong for the shooting of a Nepali-Hindi film, Broken Wings, and was staying at Cochrane Palace Hotel there since several weeks.

Sonam also ran the Parikrama School Of Music in Delhi. He founded the bands Mrigya and North East Express but he became popular with Parikrama. He debuted as a music director in Bollywood with the 2014 film, Manjunath.
