RAJ KUNDRA CLARIFIES BEFORE ED: DEALT WITH WADHAWAN, NOT BINDRA | 2 November, 2019

Raj Kundra, husband of Shilpa Shetty, told the Enforcement Directorate that his dealings were with Dheeraj Wadhawan of RKW Developers and not Ranjeet Singh Bindra whose affairs are being probed in a money-laundering case.

Raj explained to the ED that in 2011, he had negotiated to sell a plot of land that he owned near the airport in Bombay, to RKW. He added that his dealings and correspondence were with Dheeraj Wadhawan then. In 2013, Raj transferred his company, Essential Hospitality, which owned the plot, to RKW for value, he told the ED.

He further explained that in March, he was approached by Bindra with an offer to invest in his restaurant, Bastian. “I had been a regular patron at this popular restaurant and decided to invest in it, buying 50% stake along with management rights,” Raj Kundra elaborated before the ED. He categorically denied having any links with the underworld. He also said, his wife’s (Shilpa Shetty) name was unnecessarily being dragged into the controversy.

Raj Kundra had been summoned for interrogation by the ED on 30th October.
