Rajinikanth on 8th November clarified that he was not joining the BJP. He explained that some people were trying to “saffronise” him but he was not going to succumb. He added that they had done the same thing with Tamil saint-poet Thiruvalluvar but he, too, had not yielded.
Rajinikanth gave the clarification in Madras on being asked if he had a soft corner for the ruling party at the Centre. The actor was responding to a question about former Union minister and senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan suggesting that Rajinikanth should join the BJP. The Tamil films’ superstar also clarified that nobody from the BJP had ever approached him to join the party.
