Actress and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly’s son, Akash Mukherjee, was arrested on the night of 15th August in Calcutta for speeding after he reportedly rammed his car into the boundary wall of a club. A local court sent him to police custody for a day on 16th after rejecting his bail plea because the police recorded the car’s speedometer to be 110 km./hr., which is way above the permissible limit.
Akash was returning from his aunt’s house which is a stone’s throw away from his own house. The car smashed the wall with such impact that it broke the wall of 10 inches of brick and mortar. Besides, concrete slabs smashed the car’s windscreen. Akash suffered minor injuries on his head. He tested negative for alcohol.
