SATISH SHAH BIDS ADIEU | 25 October, 2025

Seasoned actor Satish Shah breathed his last today (25th October) around 2.30 p.m. in Bombay at his residence due to kidney failure. He had recently undergone kidney transplant but had not been keeping well since some time. He was 74. The news of his demise sent shock waves in the industry as well as among the public.

Doctors from Hinduja Hospital revealed that they received a call from the actor’s residence when he became unresponsive. They tried to administer CPR in the ambulance itself but were unable to revive him.

His last rites will be performed tomorrow (26th) at 12 noon at the Pawan Hans crematorium. Before that, his body will be kept for darshan at his house (Gurukul, 14, Kalanagar, near Matoshree, Bandra East) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Satish Shah was a brilliant actor and excelled in comic roles. He played serious and other roles with equal ease and almost always left his mark on the audience. Among his outstanding performances are those in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (as corrupt municipal commissioner D’Mello), Main Hoon Na, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Om Shanti Om, etc. He will also be remembered for his work in such TV serials as Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Filmy Chakkar. His iconic character of Indravadan Sarabhai, the sarcastic yet endearing patriarch of the Sarabhai family, in television serial Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai made him a household name. His acting career spanned more than four decades.

Satish Shah was a graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India. He initially did bit roles in films like Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan (1978) and Gaman (1979).
