The Himachal Pradesh high court on 20th May quashed a sexual assault case filed against Jeetendra at the women’s police station in Simla in February 2018 at the behest of his cousin. The Simla police had booked the actor on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman after his cousin accused him of sexually assaulting her 48 years ago when she had stayed with him at a hotel in Simla in January 1971. The complainant said, she was 18 years old then.
Justice Ajay Mohan Goel ordered the FIR registered against Jeetendra under section 354 of the IPC to be quashed. Jeetendra’s counsel rubbished the allegation as baseless and ridiculous, and challenged the FIR which, he said, had been registered by the police without any preliminary investigation and evidence. The counsel also said, the actor had neither been questioned by the police nor provided with the copy of the FIR.
