SLP IN SC FOR STAY ON RELEASE OF MODI BIOPIC | 6 April, 2019

After his PIL to stay the release of PM Narendra Modi was rejected by the Bombay high court, Pune resident Satish Gaikwad has filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the biopic’s release during the general elections. The SLP alleges that the Election Commission of India is acting in collusion with the producers of the film and not taking action.

The Congress has also filed a plea in the apex court, seeking a stay on the film’s release. The party alleged that the film’s release during general elections would be in violation of the model code of conduct. The party has claimed that the Modi biopic was made by BJP members as a promotional campaign for the ruling party. The Supreme Court bench has listed the case for hearing on 8th April.
