SMRITI IRANI CRITICISES DEEPIKA | 16 January, 2020

Deepika Padukone came under fire from minister for women and child development, Smriti Irani, over her support for left-aligned students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, which the actress visited a few days prior to the release of her Chhapaak. The minister questioned Deepika’s political leanings and said, she must’ve been well aware that she was sharing the platform with a student group which was “opposed to India’s unity and celebrates every time a CRPF jawan is killed”. Smriti Irani also alleged that Deepika Padukone had made her political stance clear way back in 2011 when “she endorsed Congress”.
