Tanushree Dutta’s lawyer on 3rd September wrote to the Bombay police commissioner, seeking the transfer of her case against Nana Patekar to the crime branch. He also sought withdrawal of the B-summary report filed by the Oshiwara (Bombay) police in the Andheri metropolitan magistrate’s court a few months ago and demanded the arrest of Nana.
A B-summary report is filed when the police cannot gather sufficient evidence in support of a complaint and hence decide to stop the probe. Tanushree had last year accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment in 2008 during the shooting of Horn Ok Pleassss. Her complaint had started a trend of other actresses complaining against different actors, producers and directors, accusing them of sexual harassment, which gave birth to the #MeToo movement in India. Based on Tanushree’s complaint, a case was registered by the police against Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, the film’s producer, Samee Siddiqui, and director, Rakesh Sarang. But the police later gave them a clean chit.
