VEERU DEVGAN PASSES AWAY | 1 June, 2019

Action director Veeru Devgan breathed his last on 27th May in Bombay. He was 77 years old and had choreographed the action and stunt scenes of hundreds of films, mostly in the 1980s and 1990s. He is survived by his wife and four children including leading actor Ajay Devgan.
Veeru Paaji, as he was respectfully called, had helped the careers of such actors as Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Jeetendra and his own son, Ajay Devgan, among others. Among the films he had done the action for were Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Desh Premee, Aakhree Raasta, Andhaa Kaanoon, Kranti, Phool Aur Kaante, Lal Baadshah, Dilwale, Divya-Shakti, Kurbaan, Loha, Qayamat, Hoshiyar, Mawaali, Qaidi, Insaaf Ki Pukar, Tridev, Vishwatma, Mahaan, Kishen Kanhaiya, Khuddaar, Jigar, Inkaar, Khoon Pasina and Mr. Natwarlal.
Veeru Devgan had to struggle a lot before being discovered by action director Ravi Khanna. It is said that Veeru went without food for days together in his days of struggle and even cleaned taxis.
He was cremated the same evening at the Vile Parle crematorium. The cremation ground was full of industry people including stars who came to pay their last respects. His prayer meeting on 30th at ISKCON was also very largely attended.
