Actor-producer Vindu Dara Singh’s tip-off helped the police arrest five fraudsters in Nasik. The gang of five duped people by charging a fee for VIP cellphone numbers. The group siphoned off Rs. 1.06 crore from bank accounts of victims. Two more gang members are wanted by the Nasik police.
Vindu’s friend was recently duped of Rs. 4.50 lakh by a caller who promised a VIP cellphone number for a fee. The friend deposited the money in a bank in Nasik following which the caller withdrew the money, closed the bank account and switched off the phone.
The police nabbed two gang members – Lolage and Nikam – and three of their aides. The five were sent to police custody till 5th August.
